10g emersed Terraium.

It's a bit of a cross over as I don't have any plans to submerge it.

What do you guys think?

i think this is tight. i always wondered what a large emersed tank would look like. keep it going. let me know how it goes. i imagine it like a giant waki suba.

Stunning! Very pleasing to the eye, and nicely done. Gives new meaning to "airplants". I really like the idea of no fauna, only flora (along with not having to monitor water quality or do water changes).

What type of maintenance tasks are you having to perform? Do you fertilize your plants? What substrate are you using? Are you keeping your set-up @ room temperatures? Will you continue using the plastic on top of the tank if you decide to keep it emersed? Your idea seems like it will evolve into a very interesting long-term project.

Thanks for all the kind words!

The Substrate is the new Dennerel aquasoil. Photo period is 8-48hrs depending when I remember to turn it off...lol

Fertilizing is done twice daily when I mist with my high tech tank water and this is really the only mateniance to speak of.

I plan to switch the plastic to a sheet of acrylic. It's kept at room temperature in the basement of my house. Both the temperature and humidity stay realitivly around 70.

The purpose of this setup was to get some emersed flower pics to use as a proper identification aid for my club. Without having another ugly tank filled with containers in the house.

No plans as of yet for inhabitants but I'm not ruling it out down the line either.

I also should state that I struggle almost daily with the thought of filling this tank. But the only reason I don't is because I love the natural feel of it in it's current state. Also add the fact that I don't have to do any matnaince at all to this tank.

That is a really cool idea. When I first saw it, I was certain you had just put a nice aquascape together and thought "dang, that looks too good to put under water".

This is gorgeous! Emersed setups are just so fascinating to me, I love 'em. And it looks like something is definitely sending up a flowering stalk!

Do you ever get mold or fungus at all? If so, how do you combat it?

Yes but not bad. I just drip a couple of drops of metrecide 14 on it.

Forget filling it, how on earth do you resist the temptation to put animals in there? o__o It's so beautiful, I'm just imagining it with flying insects of some sort.
