Riparium plants in MTS?

It's a long-term project of mine to make a riparium using emersed aquatic plants. I've got them growing outside at the moment in potting soil/sand/eco-complete and they're doing great so far.

When I finally put them in riparium planters, is there any way I can keep them with MTS without it leaking into the water? If I seal up the bottom of the planters and cap them with substrate, will that work?
