Lightbulb Modified Planter Basket

I have a shallow tank, and I can not see lowering my baskets any further into my water. So I decided to cut one down and I love it! Since I cut it down I no longer was able to use the suction cups which are a hassle anyway. So I used aquarium sealer and attached a rare earth magnet from a recycled hard drive to the inside of the basket, works great!

Here are a few shots of what it looked like before planting:

I glued a soft material to the magnet on the outside of the glass:

Here is another planter I made for the outside of the tank to hold soil, I needed to cut it to fit against the wall without sticking out farther than the front of my tank.

I used scrap pieces to make supports on the inside, everything was glued using aquarium sealer in phases. Then for the inside I was able to use a piece of plexiglass, however two coumns of openings were on a rounded edge so I used a soda bottle, overlapping the plexiglass over it:

Just a heads up if anyone is planning on doing this apparently hard drive magnets are steel and will rust, luckily I caught this before it killed anything:

I covered it in aquarium sealer and tested it for rust pin holes, all good!
