Outdoor Container Pond

I am in the process of making an outdoor enclosure for my cats and I want to put a small (about 8-12 gallon) above-ground container pond out there.

I plan to have some common Cattails, Bog-grass, Duckweed, etc growing in there with plain old' soil substrate. I am going to use a deep container and add a bunch of driftwood, sunken and floating to give as much hiding area as possible.

I want to stock it with probably 6 White Cloud Mountain Minnows to keep the mosquitoes away. I thought about a Betta or Guppies but with the cats being out there it is jut too risky for them.

Any suggestions or input would be appreciated!

Sabrina

I don't know if 8-12 gallons would cut it, that's pretty small, I have a few 20 gallon rubbermaid ponds for culturing bloodworms and moinia, and they seemed really crowded with pond plants in them.
