Golden White Cloud Mountain minnow fry!

Last summer I got golden White Cloud Mountain minnows because they show up in a pond nicely and Iíd heard they were easy to breed because they donít predate on the eggs nor the fry. They didnít spawn for me till almost a year later! I nearly gave up and was thinking of adding some other species to the container pond. I was checking for mosquito larvae since some of my other ponds had em when I noticed these werenít pests!

Gifted a handful of RCS with a couple inches of Hornwort, Bronze Crypt, and Water Sprite.
RAOK added clump of Java Moss and Subwassertang.
I can't wait to keep adding! I hope to learn as much as I can and do a full planted!

Especially when I waited almost a year... I wonder if they'll continue to spawn or if this is triggered by the changing seasons. I would have preferred a continuous breeder rather than annual. Will have to wait till next year just before spring to get long fin white clouds...

My adult White Clouds couldn't eat their babies fast enough. They bred in my 29 gallon and the females were VERY quick to eat the fry. I've got Corys in that tank now so any eggs on the bottom get gobbled up pretty quick, no more fry for me.

It is a myth that White Clouds don't eat their fry and young. They are more or less constant, year round, breeders which often goes unnoticed because of the adults' constant snacking on their own babies
