I am not an expert but I had similar type on algae
If you have it on the glass as well than it should be brown algae

You could clean it just by rubbing gently
Mostly I had on the glass and big or flat leaf type plants

I cleaned it 2 time a week and did a 50% water change since I have discus and danios so it's over crowded

In which ever laef which is effective too much I removed it

So was able to remove it in 30 to 45 days

I have a dirted aquariam
Also to add I used to remove the top layer thin layer of gravel which I sicked while taking out the water cleaned it with that same water and than put it again in the tank

I think this will work
but again I want to tell you that i am not an expert and have just shared my experience with similar algae.

Thank you for the reply.

I have it on glass as well as my heater. It does look like brown algae.

I also have a dirted tank, which is 30 gallons with a canister filter, Eheim 2215. I have one angel fish, 3 guppies and 5 glowlight tetras and 2 corys.

I dose seachem excel on a daily basis. Thinking that I have a canister filter, I only change water once every 2 weeks. Maybe I need to do more often than that.

I will try your method to see if I can get rid of the algae.
