Canister filters for nano tanks.

I recently traded out a penguin hob for a Rapids mini canister filter on my 11.4g Mr. Aqua. I'm curious as to what type of canister filters everyone uses for their nano tanks, your experience with them, and how you have them setup I.e. intake, return, filter media, etc.

The Rapids was cheap and working great so far but as the saying goes you get what you pay for, I'm sure I'll have issues with it at some point. In the future I would like to add inline co2 and an inline heater to keep the clutter down. At that time I'll probably upgrade the filter too. Would something like an Eheim or Marineland in the 160gph range work if I added a ball valve to limit flow? Thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

I ordered the fluval 106 for my 10 gallon, it pushes 146 gph won't be quite that high with media in it, and it has a control adjustment on it.

Keep chugging

I use Eheim 2213's on my ADA 45P (~36L) and both of my ADA Mini-M's (~19L).

I have a Finnex PX-360 (95gph)for a 10 gal. that I'm hopefully going to set up very soon. I have hooked it up to test it and see how/how not noisy it is. It's pretty quiet. I also have an Exo-Terra FX 200 turtle filter (55gph) on a 5 gal. It is quiet once you get the air out and so far, reliable. I have it set up with the included sponges and have added some Purigen and ceramic bio media. I plan on setting up the Finnex the same way. I put a ball valve in line to make cleaning a little quicker and to adjust flow. I also drilled extra holes in the spray bar and mounted it vertically in a corner.

The Rapids will be very underpowered if you add any inline equipment.

For a tank your size, I'd recommend an Eheim 2213.
