New member on here but like most, have been in the aquarium game for quite awhile. Well, its been almost 8 years since my last planted as I was occupied with my old reef. Gave up my reef about 2 years back when I left for college and got a free little 1.2 gallon tank to play with over winter break. Thought I'd try a planted again with some shrimp. Didn't really plan it well as I need to move it back to school soon, hoping to find info to make that as smooth as possible.
Anyways, here's to getting my feet wet again after going tankless for a bit. Aquascaping is not a priority for me yet and I know my tank is disappointing but it's been a much more enjoyable ride then my reef every gave me.

Started this thread late so I totally missed taking more pics of the early stages.
12/3/15: Here it is just set up for a day, had no fancy equipment yet just locally bought plants off craigslist and a CFL light. Started dosing liquid ammonia to get the cycle going.
1/2/15: A few weeks later with some equipment upgrades. Cycle is done and plants are going nuts.
1/7/15: Added a few locally breed RCS shrimp, hard to see but I got about 10 in there. Some females are showing the egg "saddle" which makes me happy.
Shrimps are doing great, molting left and right and just going bananas.
Just for kicks and a path down memory lane, my old reefs:
And my current koi pond:
Thanks for stopping in, will be keeping this updated. I do need to move this tank in a couple weeks so that should be fun.
