Finnex 4 - "Sukothai"

Weeks ago I thought I would upgrade the "living space" of my betta to a mini "habitat." Unfortunately he didn't outlive my meticulous (read: lazy) construction. Halfway through the process, the little boy succumbed to dropsy. But I went on anyway since the plants were arriving. "Sukhothai" was the first empire in the modern day Thailand, meaning "Dawn of Happiness."

So I bought a Finnex 4 gallon tank a month ago. It comes with a stock H.O.B. and 13W CF for FW planting purposes. I didn't take any pics of the tank still in wrapped up. So here's the first one, with the substrate (ADA Malaya Soil, power sand, Sarawak Sand) in.

I thought the makeshift background (from the liberal elite NYT Sunday Edition Travel sec. a nice touch ).

So the plants came! All very healthy. I for one am ... lazy in pulling things apart, especially when it comes with hairgrass. So apologies in advance to those hairgrass gurus.

Also, right off the bat I already know it's a little too heavily planted. Ok, maybe not a little. More than a little. But I am expecting to move the needle-leaf java out of this tank in a couple of weeks to put in a bigger tank and move the Hygro compakt that's currently on the right.

I hadn't planned on using any driftwood because the tank was supposed to set up for an OHM betta. Don't want anything in there that would have ripped his fin. So now I may put some driftwood when I am in the mood to re-scape. Otherwise, oh well, another betta!

This is the tank 30 minutes after the light and filter were turned on:

Though I kinda like the needle leaf java extending all the way to the other end of the tank. Sort of feels like some dudes saying hello to the pretty girls at the end of the bar.

Sorry! I was a little conscious of FTS because the tank is sitting on an el cheapo cabinet-of-sort from IKEA. Here it is:

Thanks for the slope comment. I overdid it while planting. So now I think it's more hilly. The tank is horribly scaled. It looks... blah.

有賀とお! Thanks! The light is stock lighting with Finnex 4. I ordered the tank straight from them, and chose the 13w instead of 26 w 50/50 for FW. Compact F, reflector...

I will post a pic or two of the light on Monday. Going out of town bright and early tomorrow.

Nice. Another Finnex to add to the list of tanks to watch. Nice little tank. Just needs a new betta and it'll be perfect.

Thanks boss, appreciate the comment. I am also thinking some micro boraras.

Though a betta would be nice. Sigh...

Oooh. Micro Boraras would be cool too. Just a little something to add some movement.

Oh yeah. Though I am also eyeing a gorgeous betta right now. So we will see. So many fish, so few tanks!

Your Finnex 4 is great by the way. Muuuch better scape than mine. I have taken the needle-leaf out, and moved the compakt from the right to left of the tank.
