Feeding in a nano?

So, i've got 10 CPD's in my 10G, i've been feeding them fry food basically.

Problem is, they are a shy fish, so by the time they come out, even though this stuff hangs mid water for sometime, it's usually all down to the floor.

How are others solving for this?

I'll be watching, because I have this problem too. By the time they venture out from the weeds the food is already on the bottom.

How heavily do you have your tank planted? Just curious. Mine rarely come out. They hide in the heaviest vegetation, and swim through the java moss. I'm torn between thinking it's too heavily planted (but the fish are happy) and maybe I should thin it out (but the fish might not be so happy).

My experience may be different than yours because I have a heavily planted 55. I only had shrimp in mine for several months and decided to add some CPDs. I had 12 at first and they hid constantly. So I upped it to 24. For the first week or so it seemed they would still hide but slowly they began coming out more.

Now when I walk up to the aquarium they all swim up and prance around at the surface waiting to be fed. They don't act like the shy fish everyone talks about. I can even put my fingers in the water and they peck the food off.

Also I stared feeding them Hikura micro pellets and some live scuds. They readily hunt down the scuds!

Need to try some scuds. In my bigger tank they were right there with the betta, neons, runny noses holding their own for food. Now in this short tank they don't seem so eager...but seem to liven up a little more each day.
