home build....

Thinking of building my first nano tank.. it will be low tech consisting of the tank, filter, lighting and maybe a heater. the tank will be 8x10x8 with a glass top. so, unless I am mistaken, I think this tank is 2.8 gallons and will be quite small, however, I am thinking of using a tetra whisper 1-3 gallon internal filter. for the substrate, I have a really nice black sand for the tank. I am however not thinking of anything else at the moment. i have to buy the glass and the clear acrylic to seal the tank. tell me what you guys think... I am looking to not only build the tank and then stock it with some shrimps.

I wouldn't use an internal filter its going to take up a lot of real estate.

Check out the Finnex PX-360 Compact Canister Aquarium Filter. Says it's for tanks up to 25g. One of our LFSs has one on a 12g long.

Setup an over the tank planter and grow emersed plants. That will act as filter and and to the layout.
