Cool Brand spankin new cherry planted 5g! CC welcome!

Hello!

So this is it... I'm starting back up after a 5 year hiatus, and I'm trying to remember what I'm doing!

I currently have a 5g nano with a ridiculous sponge filter, ecocomplete substrate (used all 20lbs - mistakes were made. scooping some out to put in my redone betta cube at work tomorrow!) med/high lighting with found bits from my last tanks (don't know spectrum or temperature, but it's a 15w CFL. helpful i know)

We have hard water, and I'm looking to start out with some lovely bright deep rich red cherries when it's time for fauna. I just planted my dwarf hairgrass clumps, and tied my little bit of phoenix moss to the mesh in the back - it looked like more, i swear!

Anyone have some critique/criticism before I get too much further? I'd love to make this look lovely, as it's on my desk at home and I'm kind of at a loss for how to beef it up without going overboard.

Think cherries are starting too easy? Should I get some crystals? dare I say it... BLUE SHRIMP?

Sky (and my paycheck) are the limit... but for an I-just-did-a-thing how's it lookin?

The moss will spread faster if cut and spaced similar to the hair grass.

Thanks, I didn't know that was a thing to do, will get on that tomorrow! Think it's a bad idea to add in other species of moss as well? Or should I just keep it phoenix moss for now?

i'll say just keep the phoenix moss for now. i mean you can add other species of moss if you want, just make sure you seperate them.
