Spec-v question

Has anyone had luck growing any plants in a spec-v? with the stock light... I put some in the one i set up in the wife's office and everything like died... I dont know if it was due to the light or the snails that came on the plants...

Mine didnt grow val. Spiralis. You could try cryptocorynes, but i would recommend an upgrade.

With stock lighting, my low-light plants are growing slowly. I've only had my tank for ~3 months, but I've seen:
Anubias - ~1 new leaf every few weeks
Anacharis - growing, but stems are thinner than from the store
Wistera - a new node every 2 or so weeks (could be temperature related as well- it grew faster when at 80*, but I've since knocked it down to 76*)

My photoperiod during the day/evening is split with 5 hours on, 3 hours off, then 4 hours on. I randomly dose a drop of Flourish Comprehensive and stock a betta and a ghost shrimp.

I also do grow some higher light plants and carpets with the stock low-light LED light that comes with the Fluval Spec V set, however, I do dose Seachem Excel and Flourish once every couple days. I also think dosing liquid CO2 is easier than setting up a gaseous CO2 injection system in such a small volume of water.
