Equeon Evolve- keeping fry out of filter intake ideas?

Just put some young tiger shrimp and a few guppies in. I wedged a small piece of filter sponge on the inside of intake, but even that slowed the water enough that the compartment with heater and powerhead water level dropped WAY down.

Not sure what else might work. Thanks for any ideas!

Drill a few holes in the bottom of the compartment for the filter, it will help equalize the displacement. Put the holes toward the back behind the filter pad. This will also help with the stagnant water that tends to pool in that area, especially if you are housing your heater horizontal in the back.

Slip a sponge prefilter over the intake.
