Nano Eco-system Box Journal (3G Natural)

This is my first attempt at trying do a closed system & filterless planted tank.
Not many people seem to do natural filterless tank here so I thought i'd share my progress

It has been just over month since this tank was planted...and the carpet plants have pretty much covered most of the ground

Plants Used in the Tank:
HC: main foreground
Hairgrass: Background
Needle (nana) val: background left
Dowoni: Middle center
Dwarft Sag: left corner
Japanese rush: behind the rock.
Some sort of microsword/thick hairgrass plant: Left center

There are no fauna in the tank yet except for a few ramshorn and loads of copepod that came with the plant. I may add a few shrimp later..

I setup a DIY co2 when I started, but obviously it has died down after a month without changing the yeast mix.
There are no filter or water pump in the tank. I wanted the tank to be portable and be able live without external equipment / electricity. I am planning to put this on my office desk where it will receive good amount of ambient lighting.
I custom made a acrylic top for the tank..routed the edge of the top so that it can fit snugly on the rimless tank without need a trim or clip (after removing the DIY co2)

And here are a few progress shot from Day 1.
Comments and suggestions are more than welcome!

so no air gets in or out? (if I'm reading this right)

I'd wonder about the transfer of energy in that case. Only a certain amount of carbon in the water, and it has to go somewhere. If the plants use it up to grow, where will they get it then? (or have you not removed the DIY Co2?)

i haven't remove the DIY co2 yet, so there is still a 1/4" (by 7") gap created by the airline.

But I will probably remove that gap too in a few days and cover the top entirely..
the cover won't be air tight (just like your normal glass canopy) so air will still get in and out.

Co2 is probably going to be limited, but I am thinking with reduced lighting and no fert, it should be enough to sustain the plant.
and it is also my plan limit growth once the plant mature

Flattening out can really be a bummer. Though sometimes it works out for the better, it might give the tank a more natural feel without such a harsh slope.
