Red colored hair algae?

my searches only revealed an algae called red hair algae that isn't actually red, but green/blue.

This is starting up in my 10g and I want to get rid of it before it is a nuisance.
Curious what type of algae it is and how to go about getting rid of it?

10g
danios, otos, 2 cherry shrimp.
sword, crypt, sag, and java fern.
flourish root tabs
fluval plant micronutrients dosed after water changes.
light on 8 1/2 hours. 13w florescent

I believe this might actually be black brush algae (BBA), which is a "red" algae. It doesn't always look black or gray, I understand, and can come in shades of red too. So it should be susceptible to peroxide and/or excel. Give it a straight dose of either of those via syringe or spray bottle with the filter off so it stays around the algae for longer, maybe off for 5-15 minutes. Then it should turn weird colors and die off in the next several days.

Just be sure not to spray too much peroxide, which would be on the order of 2 mL/gallon. I would start with a 1 mL/gallon dose. So take a 10 mL syringe, fill it up, and go to town. Then wait several days until the peroxide has taken effect before considering dosing again. If you use excel, watch the dosing for that as well. You can go up to the "water change" dosage listed on the bottle safely, just be careful your plants aren't sensitive to excel (such as jungle vals).

Good luck! And welcome to the forum! You should post a thread in the tank journal or nano tank sections for this tank so others can see it.

Old tanks, all torn down:

Hope to get a new tank (or two) up soon...
