I think that a 3l is good enough. How many inches do you want your substrate to be?

I think that a 3L will prolly make it about 2 inches deep.

Or you can buy 2 3L bags, I think this is cheaper than buying a 9L one.

Or get 1 9L and have extra for later or sell the extra off. I bought a 9L or regular and a 3L of powder for my tank. My substrate is deeper than most though. I used around 4-4.5L all together.

I got a 9L. I had enough for a 30c, and a mini m. I still have some left over. Maybe enough for a 2.5 gallon tank.
