Nano Heater Question

I was just curious, the small heaters for small tanks, it says they can be buried in the substrate. Can you actually place them in the actual HOB filter to warm the water, or would that not be good for the bacteria? I'm attempting a 2.5 mini bow for my desk.

I see no reason why that would be bad for the bacteria. Just be careful that the heater element doesn't get dry.

I'm going to use a Whisper 10 with just filter floss for media. The heater unit actually fits quite well just behind the plastic grate that holds the filter floss. Might impede flow a little bit.

I have a hydor mini heater that fits perfectly in the side of a red sea nano filter (I just have to sacrifice having a top on the filter) And everything seems to be running just fine.

It isn't as effective at heating the water when it's stuffed in the filter, though.

how is that? I think it'd work better since the filter disperses the heat evenly
