Custom Built 3 Gallon Rimless Cube

So the title pretty much describes the tank. It is a custom made 9" cube. I built it yesterday morning, and leak tested it today. Everything is good to go. The lighting will be custom.

These are all considerations! All ideas, criticism, and opinions are welcomed.

Fish
- Hab. Pygmy Cories x3-4
- Scarlet Badis (Pair...I think) x1-2
- Super Tiger Shrimp x3 (maybe)

Plants
- Anubis Petite (the really tiny one)
- Staurogyne Repens

Substrate
- O+ inner/bottom
- Black Sand

More later...

Looks nice. Are those reef tanks in the background?

Yes actually. I can grab a few pics tomorrow.

Here is the tank as of now.

The bubble filter is temporary. I want to get the Azoo Palm.

I'm still looking for a discreet heating solution. I may custom build a heater.

Lighting will be custom as well.

As for the stocking, I put 3 cories and a scarlet pair. What's funny is that I'm still under the 'inch per gallon' rule.

STOP ROTATING MY PICTURES PLANTEDTANK! I'm uploading from my phone, but the pics keep getting flipped.

Rotate your phone 90 degrees when you take the picture?

Haha, I'm glad to say that I don't suffer from orientation disorder.

I've been thinking about what plants I should add to the mid and back. I'm not looking for any super hard plants, but I already have Java Fern and Anubis (petite and barteri) in my other tank so that's a no.

I currently have Wisteria, Needle Leaf Ludwigia, X-mas Moss, Dwarf and Regular Sag. I can get Cabomba, Cardinal Plant, Banana Plant, Hairgrass, and regular Ludwigia.

He's got the picture protected, but you can see it here. This is one of the tanks directly behind. http://aquaimagination.com/index.html (Not trying to advertise, but I work with a local aquarium shop. )

Thanks guys. I have some really small swords that I might be able to get away with. I'll do that or add some dwarf sags. I'll post something later tonight.

Forgot to upload the pic. I doubt I'll keep the swords there, especially since they will outgrow the available space. It needs color, but I don't want red. The fish are red and are hard enough to see already. Purple would work. I have Golden/Gold Nesea but it requires a lot.

And also the forum rotated my picture again...

The tank has been running for three days now. There was originally 2.5" worth of fish, but I added another Scarlet today which adds up to 3". There are also two very tiny ramshorns (about 3mm). I didn't think that ammonia would be a big issue with such tiny fish. I did a water test. The ammonia was almost at 8ppm! That's the edge of the test chart. I did a 70% change, and retested. The result was 4ppm. Bad news, I was out of water to do another change. I took water from my 0 ammonia shrimp tank and my 0 ammonia 20g. Another 70% change later, and I'm just under 1ppm.

I planned on doing lots of water changes. After all, I did fully stock the tank at once. However, I seriously underestimated the pooping power of these tiny things. I guess I'll be doing a daily 50% change or whatever keeps ammonia under 1ppm.

I'm still waiting on the filter I want to get back in stock, but the restock date went from 2/11 to 2/16 and is now 4/30 (kind of a wtf)...

Thanks!

OK guys and gals, I really need your help.

Am 6ppm
Ni maxed the chart which stops at 5ppm
Na between 80 and 160ppm, which again is maxed

I just did an 80% change. I'll test all parameters again.

I intentionally rushed this tank with the intention of keeping a close eye on it, but I don't know what's actually going on. I shouldn't have any Am or Ni with this much Na. I know my cycle is no where near completed, so how do I even have this much Na in the first place? Another thing; how are such tiny fish producing so much waste? I still have yet to add any food, aside from a low population drop of vinegar eels (yesterday).

Another ~75%

Am 1.5
Ni 0.75
Na 20

I took the fish out. I have them in my 20 in a breeder net.
