Catfish Terrace

This is my first attempt at aquascaping. Terraced farms intrigue me, so I thought I would start there.

To form the pilings, I used some 1x2" floor tiles hot glued with plastic needle point mesh. (see last photo)

The Set UP:
5.5 gallon with Art Deco HOB filter (pre-cycled media)
FLourite
DIY CO2
18 watts (two 9 watt 5400k) I am thinking of going to two 12 or 14 watts. Opinions?
DIY hood

Flora:
Crypt Wendtii
Glosso
Dwarf Hairgrass
Anubias nana

Fauna:
5 Corydoras habrosus (?)
2 Ottos
Female Betta

I plan on moving my 10 Dwarf Corys in once the water stabilizes.

haha i really like the way this looks, hopefully when it fills in a bit more it should be the new rage of things to do in planted tanks.

I saw your DIY thread about that lighting system. Im building one aswell, just not outta foamcore, i would like to see how well it holds up

I know it is new and still looks a bit staged. I wanted to spread out the hair grass, but I have little patience and it is so hard to plant, I just left it in one clump.

The Foam Core handles the heat of two 9 watts well (cool to the touch inside and NO heat on the outside). It does not handle repeated foldings well: there are places where the black on the outside shows the folding. This hood was a test, and so far it is holding up. If it continues to perform well, I will redo it (this time using a straight edge).

Very nice. I love aquascapes with brick walls and such.... Yours should look pretty sweet in a couple of weeks. Please keep this thread updated. Thanks.
