Eco is what they call a high CEC sub. Contact/w the water is when it gets this exchange.
Putting a root tab into the sub will make it have some nutrients in it however.
It would of course still have some contact/w the water, just less of it.
This may make it harder to clean the floor in there.
In spite of the manufacturers claims ECO does not provide nutrients to plants.
It is just a good CEC sub. (absorbs nutrients when they are high in the water/releases them when they are low in the water) Gravel can't do this for your tank.
It would seem to me that putting any cap over ECO would reduce it's usefulness.
To what extent...?
Been a while since I've seen a picture list of shrimp so the image of the RR is
fuzzy at best, but that name implies it would contrast/w the black ECO well.
The shortest distance between any two points is a straight line...in the opposite direction...
