Advice on rescaping my tank

i want to rearrange my rocks and add more of the same substrate. would it mess up all the beneficial bacteria on my "used" substrate if I mix in it in with the new substrate?

I've seen discussions where people would do half the tank at a time with totally different substrate but would I need to do that with the same kind?

Would it also change the ph Levels?

I have 4 ghost shrimp and 1 snail. As for plants I have DHG, Java ferns, and Anubias nana. All 3 plants are still fairly new (1-1.5 months old in tank)

It will disrupt it some but not enough to do any harm. The pH shouldn't change.. test to make sure.

How big is the tank? How much gravel is in it? How much do you want to add?

If it's 20%-25% of what's already in there you should be fine capping it off and mixing it a little bit, like the first inch give or take... add a few pounds at a time after cleaning the gravel, after you're finished adding it and mixing it a little bit do a water change and try and get what ever debris you kicked up out. The shrimp and plants should be fine as well.
