Red face Green hair algae (GHA) problem

I have a Fluval Flora 7.9 gal. tank that I set up Oct.26th. with 2 otos, 2 nerite snails, 2 Amano shrimp, and 2 Orange rillis. One of the ottos died, one of the snails disappeared, and my GHA problem started, not too bad until lately, so the other day I purchased another oto, 3 nerites, and two larger Amanos. They all seem busy and have kept the glass clean, but don't seem to like the GHA. I have tried removing GHA with a toothbrush, but it doesn't grasp the tendrils, which are the consistency of baby hair and pass right through the bristles, it's like combing the hair of the algae. I feed a small amount of flake and/or micro pellets to the 5 neons who are the other inhabitants. Seems the only detritus in that which catches in the GHA. Have tried two hours of darkness per day, but still no success. Can anyone help me with a solution to this problem?

We could fix that easy with peroxide

a tank drain application

where the peroxide 3% from a brand new bottle is simply sprayed a few times on a bad area as the plants lay folded in the air because you drained all the water but left enough for fish to swim a bit

let sit a minute refill slowly using mostly new water

wait a few days repeat next spot don't do all at once the series of water changes helps the tank and the peroxide is nearly impossible to mess up in this small misted amount. to see some tank work

I had the same problem. I overdosed with Excel 1ml per gallon everyday and as you can see my algae is dying or dead. Click image for larger version

Reduced my light from 11 hours to 9 and Have started the Slam treatment with double weekly dose of Excel split between 3-1/2 days. Doesn't mention a second water exchange, but did a 40% on Wednesday. We'll see how that works on my hair algae. Have also done manual pruning, but it's hard to get a grasp on some, even with a toothbrush, the algae hairs are so fine.

I have killed most of the algae dosing with Metricide and by raising my CO2 level to about 4 BPS. I finally installed a drop checker. Click image for larger version

Thanks dcutl002 I am getting the upper hand with mine as well. Using Flourish Excel x2 twice and then daily dosing with Excel. Looking pretty good.

I like your pictures. I wish I had a little artistic ability. I feel like my tank is very basic.
