ADA Mini-S

Well as I down size my fish room and go back to strickly a planted tank I really want to do the Nano style tanks as it will fit with my setup.

Priced out a full ADA Mini S setup with everything ADA, tank, stand, filter, substrate, ferts, etc., and the total wasn't as bad as expected $2100 shipped to my door.

I broke a 2.5g tank I had laying around trying to take the trim off of it.

Hmm now to sell the rest of my fish room. and I will be about half way there or maybe a touch more.

It's really simple to build a stand, and you'll save a ton of money over buying an ADA one. I have probably $60 and a weekend of my time into the stand for my Mini-S.

Does the price you listed include the ADA light and CO2 setup? Does that include an ADA filter too?

yes on the light, co2, stand, and jet filter. If I can work it out I would probably go for the glory. I don't have a house and can't use the power tools in my apartment as per the wife. Pics of your stand?

Here are a couple I snapped the other day. Honestly though, if you're looking to drop that much coin you might as well get the whole ADA set-up and save yourself a weekend of work.

Thanks

The light is an Archea from Aqua Forest in San Francisco. I don't see it on their website yet but it was $60 or so. I believe it uses the same bulb that the ADA light uses. The ADA fixture is obviously higher quality, but is it $200 higher quality? That's for you to decide.

Wow did you make the stand?

Looks very nice is that for a Mini M? The stand goes very nice with the floor too!

Craig, sounds like a neat project but I have to say I would make DIY stand. Much cheaper!

Well I decided on a tank, the ADA Mini M. I've e-mailed Aqua Forest to see if everything I want is available. Also to find some rocks and wood for options. Hope to get started on this begining of the year.

Cool deal on your decision. A Mini-M is a perfect tank, in my opinion. I adore my Mini-M. And you'll get the new tanks with the thicker, clearer glass.

Also, AFA has a ton of new rocks in. Some of them are beautiful. You should ask for ones that they mark "Extra Nice". Those ones make very good center pieces.

Thanks, I did make that. It's actually a lot easier than you might think. If you can measure, cut and screw a few pieces of plywood together you can do it!

What's the timeline on this set-up Craig? Are you planning to order it soon?

SPL. I know I can make it but not sure if I feel like it. I'm usually the DIY guy for our town and thinking I want to purcase this time. I'm going to look aorund locally though to see what is around first. maybe I might make one. what does the inside of hte ADA one look like?

Timeline is hopefully to get it here around the first of the year.

Craig congratulations on your new Mini M! If you're really into aesthetics get the ADA stand. The finishes and clean edges are harder than it looks to duplicate. Some try to duplicate the look using laminate/formica surfaces to make a stand that's cleaner looking, the laminating adds more work to the project. I hate that they're so expensive, but they really are architectural and complete the package.

One more thing: I would forgo the jet filter and get the stand - since it's always visible. You could opt and get the smallest eheim ecco. 2231 and save 300+ bucks. But if you already have purchased the jet filter ignore this
