2 12" Cubes. Lighting?
Well after a few year hiatus in the planted tank community I have taken the dive back in after finding a great deal on craigslist. I picked up two 12" cube rimless tanks with 2 finnex px-360 filters and 2 8w wavepoint LED HO lamps along with tons of substrate, Seiryu stone, about a dozen shrimp, and tons of assorted plants. Currently I have it set up with 1 lamp on each tank, but I was wondering if this would be enough light. I am looking to run an HC carpet and pressurized co2 in one tank and the other will be predominantly low to medium light plants. Will running the single 8w fixture on each be sufficient? Not so much worried about the lower light tank, but will it be enough light for the HC carpet? Original owner had a very thick carpet in there already, but wasnt running co2 and said it grew very slow. I will be building a "mountain" in the tank, so a lot of the HC will be approximately 8" away from the light source.
I havent seen much info on forums with these lights and the reviews on other websites are good, but not sure if I can fully trust them. I have looked online for some PAR values, and from what I can see its varied at best. Some claim 30-50 par at 12", and I read another thread where the guy claimed 90 PAR at the center fading off to 75-80 PAR at the corners.
Anyone have any experience with these lights and can give some advice?
