5.5 lighting

will putting this light into a 5.5 gallon tank Lights of America 27W Sunlight Desk Lamp considered as a high light tank?

That is about 5wpg, yes that is considered high light. Is the lamp CF?

You can find the same lamp at Home Depot for $20 btw.

I own one of these "HAMPTON desk lamps" myself and will probably buy another one.

I've got a very similar setup using a 5.5g tank with a 27w lamp much like the one you are looking at. I would say that it is a high light tank, but the nice thing is that you can raise the bulb up if you go away for the weekend or whatever, thus decreasing the amount of light going into the tank. I'm very happy with it thus far. Good luck!

lol i ended up not buying it and saved myself $20 and stole the light from my 10 gallon salt water since its just fish they don't need light =)
