Nano From The Ditch

I have been collecting ditch/pond plants for a couple weeks. I bought myself a late Christmas present to me.... a vase from a furniture store for 24 bux and a Nano Red Sea filter. The tank is 8 inch cube and holds about 1.5 g. The light is a desk lamp with a 13w spiral CF. Substrate is a thin layer of soil with leftover Eco Complete on top. Plants are....your guess is as good as mine. I THINK I have some dwarf hairgrass, Ludwigia (Not repens), Micranthemum, and who knows what else. Any ID'S .....please chime in! Most of the plants were emersed so I don't know how they will grow and how big they will get. I am using Excel and PPS pro for now.

Top shot before water....

Right on, I'm digging the ditch nano, lol

You gotta tell me where you got the vase, I've been looking for something like that forever with no luck!

Cool little project.

I got started in the hobby doing similar as a kid with an old metal framed 5gallon that I talked my mom into buying me at a yard sale...lol

I've seen vases like this one at Tuesday Morning (not sure if they have those in Fla?) I checked a few of them out, but the optical clarity just wasnt there on the ones in stock.
Thats most likely the reason they were at said store. Tuesday Morning = Higher priced Big Lots more or less.

Very cool, it's a nice looking little cube too.I would dip those plants in something..just to be safe. I just made a trip to a local pond and got some plants to keep in my snail farm last week. There are aliens in it now... {not sure what they are but they are creepy}

Shux..I fished most of what I could catch out this morning because I was afraid they would eat my snail eggs. I will look to see if there are more, there probably are..and I never did find that big stick looking one. If I had to take a guess,the one big one looked like dragonfly larvae. The wiggly ones are the ones that creep me out, I am not sure what they are. They seem to hang upside down in the tank from the surface. And they either have good eyesight, or a good sense of vibration,because when I approach the tank they all dive towards the bottom real fast & hide. When they think the coast is clear, they do this wiggly thing that brings them back to the surface where they hang again upside down. In fact, the ones I fished out are still laying out there..I am crummy with macro shots but I'll see what I can do. If I can get some pics I will post them in the 'plants in my backyard' thread. So I don't hijack this one any more than I already have.
