Under substrate heater
For my 2.5g bowl, I use a Fluval bowl heater. It is flat, and comes with a suction cup to attach it to the glass. I put it on the very bottom of my bowl, and added soil and a cap over top. It in not adjustable, but keeps the temperature of the bowl in my cool room at 20 - 24 degrees C. The plants in this bowl are growing very well. The bowl is 55 days old as of Feb 22, 2014. I read in another forum, that I should unplug it when the ambient temperature gets to 22 degrees C, because it may heat the bowl higher than I want. They also make a larger model for tanks up to 5g.
Pet Smart updates their links every once in a while, so it may just take you to the home site, but you can find this small heater there with a little exploring.
Why is the "next" tank, always the most interesting?
