Mossy affair

Hi guys, i recently setted up a small moss and riccia tank.

L:31 x 18 x 18 (cm) (approx.)

Lighting:20watt

Temperature:26-27 Deg Cel.

Filtration: 1 huge hang on filter, too big, changing to smaller one soon.

Plants: 1) Anchor Moss,
2)Recently added riccia(just added afew riccia pebbles next to the rock, yet to grow),
3) Looking to add more plants at the back behind the rocks to cover the slit between the larger rock and smaller rock, very awkard there.

Fauna: 1) 1 boraras (unsure of species)
2) 1 tiger oto
3) Sakura shrimps

Thanks for viewing. Any comments are welcomed.

How did you get such a nice, even carpet like that, instead of clumps here and there?

did you just put a bunch of moss into a mess and lay it flat on the sub? I was wanting to do that for a long time, but couldnt figure out how to do it.

tie the mosses to a wire mess and place them on the substrate, tie using a normal thread will do. The thread will decompose over time but it does not matter as your moss will cling onto it.

SearunSimpson: Here's the link to a fellow member's thread which you might find interesting on the subject of moss/riccia & mesh.

Nice effect!
I didn't have luck when i tried tying my moss to the plastic needle point mesh.
the moss didnt attach but it stays at the bottom in a messy bunch =(
What kind of mess did you use?
I'm thinking of using slate instead.
But do we tie it tightly?
