Greetings from San Diego!
Here's some pics of my first attempt at aquascaping / fishkeeping. I'm brand new to the craft but I can already feel the addiction setting in. I definitely welcome any advice you might have.
I'm using an Aqueon 2.5gal mini bow front w/ its standard filter (+ Acurel filter fiber) and a Deep Blue Heat Stik, which I got all for free. Lighting is a clamp lamp with a standard house bulb. The substrate is also secondhand, and is a mix of fine (supposedly) nutrient-rich black and white sand with some black Spectra Stone in the foreground.
For plants I have Anacharis planted in the back plus a few floating for effect. I have no idea what the species of the tall grass in the middleground and the shorter grass in the foreground are, they weren't labeled in the store.
For livestock I have 1 African dwarf frog, 1 fancy guppy, 2 glowlight tetras, and 2 ghost shrimp. They all seem to have enough space to swim freely but I'll probably move the frog out into a 10gal rimless that I'm working on and replace him with a couple cherry shrimp.
The lamp seems to heat up the water a lot, so I turn the heater on at night and keep it off in the day. My water is still around ~85F. That's really hot, right? I'm going to try just raising the lamp a few inches to see if that does anything.
Anyway, thanks for looking!
