Need help on my Fluval Spec V

Thanks everyone first. I am totally new on this, and just bought a Fluval Spec V and wanted to setup a tank with more plants.

I added a heater but everything else is stock. It's been almost two weeks now, with plants, but no fish yet.

I bought too many plants and probably the wrong kind either. Some of the plants are "melting", and others are having "roots" along the branches. See the pictures.

Someone told me it's because of lack of CO2, then others told me it's because lack of lighting (the stock light is on for about 16 hours a day).

What is the reason? Thanks for your help.

My Cabomba is doing the same thing.

I am high light / co2 so that isn't the issue. I am running flourite so I was suspecting that I might need root tabs.

IMO you might want to reduce your photoperiod so you don't run into any problems.

Thanks, dru. In this case, I will go get some root tabs. How about this one:

And I will cut the photoperiod to 8 hours or so.
