Thumbs up Journal of My Nano Project :: SAVANA

For last couple of days I was thinking about starting a nano project by myself. Then I found I have a abandunt 2'x1.5'(h)x1' (22 US G) already with matured substrate with hell lot of algae and my favorite fishes. So I started with the same tank without changing the Substrate. Day before yesterday I pull out all the crap plants to make the tank clear. Added 6 Ottos. Today I found the tank is 90% clean and ready to take new plants stock.

Tank Details::

Substrate: A thin layer of Normal Soil at the bottom. Top of that Sera Plant Substrate (Thickness 1"). And on the top layer I have 1.5" thick Dark Red River Gravel (3-4mm). The substrate is matured for 2 months as I have a jungle of Vals in it with FishLoad.

Light: As of now I am using 2 2' T8 (1 6500k another 4200K). The tank is having 1.5WPG light as of now. But will be adding another 2 T8 after completing the plantation.

Plants: As of now I have added Sword Amazon, Anubias Nana,H vertcillata and Rotala Macranda.

Within a week will be adding,
Hemianthus Micranthemodies (Mid Ground)
Bacopa Lanigera (BG Corner)
Eleocharis Parvula (FG)
Echinodorus tenellus(FG)

Initially planned for Glosso at FG but my Gravel size is bit bigger for Glosso. So will cover it with grasses.

CO2: Will go with DIY CO2 diffused by a small internal Power filter (120l/h).

Scaping: I named the Scaping, SAVANA. So will creat mainly a Grassland with small bushes and stones.

As of now the tank is bit overcrowded with fishes. I will move most of them to there new home.

I will update the thread with the progress with this setup.If you have any better idea.... please share.

Your tank looks great. I think it has too many fish in there.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks a lot for the kind words. But now am stuck inbetween. My plants delivery from Singapur getting delayed. Will update you soon, when the plantation will be over.

@vibes: You are right. The tank had a huge Bio Loa and due to that I faced a serious algae issues. I removed most of my fishes. Now the tank is having only 6 Rams and 5 Ottos.
