Cycle a nano tank?

While I'm waiting for my 44 gallon to cycle, I'm thinking about starting a nano tank. Maybe for a Betta. How do you go about cycling for the fish? Not sure of the exact size or container I'm going to use yet. Thinking of maybe trying the instant cycle liquid. Any suggestions?

If you can get some mature media from a filter or even gravel or decorations that will help speed up the process. I just cycled my 10g using these instructions. You will have to scroll down to the post by Diana. It was pretty helpful and she does mention stuff about bacteria in a bottle.
