Hi, I have a 7g minibow that I want to set up as a low/med light planted tank. I was thinking of getting a 13 watt retrofit kit to put into the existing hood and using flourite or eco-complete as my substrate. I was planning on java fern, java moss, crypts for plants with maybe a small piece of driftwood. I was not planning on CO2 addition but would consider Flourish Excel if needed. Any recommendations on this setup?

Also, besides having a couple of cories, I would like to get some recommendations on peaceful, colorful fish.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Funny you mention the Endler's livebearers, I just heard of those fish in this months Aquarium Fish Magazine. I had never heard of them before. Are they common in LFS? I have never seen one locally.

Anyone else have suggestions?

I agree that Endlers would fit your desire for colorful peaceful fish that fit in a 7 gal tank.

Some White Cloud Mountain Minnows would work too, although actually they like a little room to swim. Or Rasbora maculata.

A Betta on its own is color- and peaceful.

There are some tiny gouramies, like sparkling gouramies, that might fit in there.

Kuhli loaches, although with Cory's maybe not.

Cherry shrimps?

Two Otos wouldn't hurt either.

Guppies should work well too.

Or a few Neon tetras.

Now I am out of ideas.

Obviously you can't keep all of these:
a few cardinal tetras maybe
guppies
betta
how about a pair of rams or apistos?
maybe a molly or platy or swordtail or 2
corys
otos
serpae tetras
danios
dwarf gourami
oscar (just kidding!!!)

I keep 1 guppy (rescued feeder guppy turned fancy), two cory haphaestus, and 3 cherry shrimp in my 3 gal eclipse. I am planning on a trio of endler's if the guppy ever kicks the bucket or rasbora maculata.
I am growing java fern, 1 dwarf sword, red cacomba, frog spawn (actually had one hitchike on the cacomba from my main tank and it has multiplied to about 20 pieces).

Whoops..almost forgot.
I have a 5 gal tank, that I may make into a nano tank at home. I am planning on keeping killiefish in it.

a dwarf puffer or two might be ok, but Rams would probably do better with a bit more room than that.
