I want to add some java fern to my 10g. What can I treat the plants with, prior to putting them in my tank, to remove any 'hitch-hikers' that might be riding in on them (limpets, snails, etc)? I was going to use Coppersafe, but then read on the label that it may harm plants.

19 to 1 water to bleach for 2 minutes seems to be the recomended method. Do not dip the roots in the solution though.

I use a 10 percent bleach solution but for about a minute and rinse with normal tap water, then tank water. I have heard of a 5 percent alum mix with tap water works really well, but have yet to try it.
Any healthly plant may be a bit stunted and prolly pissed if plants could get pissed at you , but should recover even though I have seen some leaves die off, and I have seen some plants take it in stride and still some lose a bit of coloration for a bit.
