anyone used an 8 gallon biocube for a planted setup

if so, i'd like to see pictures, hear what mods you did, if any. i'm picking up one this weekend and i'm contemplating a planted tank instead of a saltwater.

thanks!

The store I used to work for did a couple planted setups. They weren't too serious with it though, and didn't pay them as much attention as they should. That being said, they are a nice little setup and the lights are more than sufficient. I'd think, with a bit more care, you could do something really awesome with one of those!

This was my 8 gal biocube with diy co2 the lights were T8 6700k and I used it for growing out plants. The pic is awful but the tank was nice and it worked great for my plants. It was replaced by my ADA 60p now its in the garage.

cool. is c02 recommended for these tanks/amount of light?

i would guess that you'd replace the actinic 18w with a 6700k and leave the 18w 10K?

thanks!

You can prob get away with excel but co2 will give you better results. the Actinic bulb was used for the first three months until it was replaced by a 6700k bulb.

The nutrafin on the left in the pic or the hydor on the right in the pic should work there is also a red sea brand. but look in the diy section to make your own for under 5 bucks or ADA nano pressurized co2 for $85
