Starting a 6 gallon nano cube.

hi,

i have not been on this site in a while except for a few brief visits. on vacation my family and i went to the birch aquarium, in the gift shop i bought a book about fw and sw aquariums, the next day my mom was looking at the book and desided she wants an aquarium for the kitchen. She desided on a planted 6 gallon eclipse with guppies and a gardneri killifish. first question she has that i cant answer is, will the killi eat the guppies? she also wants shrimp in the tank and is worried about the killi eating them.

could you guys please post some pics of you 6 gallon nano cubes?

The guppies and killi will eat baby shrimp.

The killi will definitely not eat the guppy. The gardneri is a small fish.

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

i dont have a 6g but i would suggest keeping it easy plantwise. use moss and anubus and that type of stuff. nice low light slow growers. your mom also might like endlers over mut guppies i would suggest showing her those. also least killifish. those might be the compromise between the two and are probably the best fish to go with shrmip!

good luck.

Oh, and dude, you aren't growing much of anything with an Eclipse 6 gallon. It's an 8 watt fluorescent tube. I had a hard time growing hornwort. Or you could get a 13 watt retrofit. The PC bulb might only have 5 more watss, but it also has more intensity, so more light is in the tank than with NO fluorescents.

Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a ten gallon with all the fixin's? You have a lot more equipment and flora options.

JBJ makes a nice 6 gal. cube, a true cube BTW. An Eclipse 6 is a bowfront. And it comes with PC lighting.
