I voted less than 7 because my 5.5 gallon seems much much smaller than my 10 in many ways other then the volume. While I can keep many different plant in my 10 and just keep them trimmed, my 5 gallon only gets dwarf plants and mosses. Just my opinion.

Somebody set us up the tank!

The question is: A nano what, a nano reef, a nano pond, a nano 10g tank, or a nano ocean. In almost all af these cases a nano is a bout the size of this period. My vote is in a seperate catagory

1ml is a nano.

I'd say 10g or less myself.

I voted less than 7 because a 10 is not a nano - it is a traditional beginners tank!

I consider anything under 10 small. But I would consider any compact tank to be nano, like the NanoCubes or maybe some of the Eclipse series.

I currently have 9 planted nanos on my desk, the largest is 1g, the smallest is about 16 oz.

I would say that a NANO would be around 1 gallon. I don't understand when people say, "Here is my 15 gallon nano". Nano to me means exactly what the dictionary has listed..."extremely small".

Here is another dictionary definition..

nano /nan'oh/ 1. <unit> A prefix meaning 10^-9 or one billionth.

Anyway, I would think that nano tanks should be really really small around 1 gallon or less in order to keep the name. That said, tomorrow I'll be reading a post about somebody's 30 gallon nano.

For example, this is what I think of when I hear the word Nano. Took this pic from one of the threads here as this is the perfect specimen. Think about it, they had 10 gallon, 5.5 gallon, 2.5 gallon tanks for decades and people just started to call them nano tanks recently. Lets not "chew out" my butt for my opinion.
