6.6 Gallon Planted Tank Journal

Well I decided to start a journal of my first planted tank. There will be many pictures and I will update as often as I can. The tank, hood/light, and filter that I will be using came in a kit that I bought at a local fish store.

Equipment

6.6 gallon acrylic tank (24"Lx8"Wx9"H)
Hood/strip light with 15w fluorescent bulb
Small hob power filter
25w heater
Coralife digital thermometer
1 bag of flourite
Diy co2 with glass diffusor
1 piece of driftwood

Livestock:

6 White Clouds

3-4 Amano Shrimp

Plants:

Anacharis

Hornwort

Java Fern

Various Crypts

Anubias Nana

A few pictures:

Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

I got one for Christmas...nifty size.

I am running a ZooMed 501 filter on mine, and I have a Coralife NO T5 2 bulb 28W Fixture on it, no top. I like the way the coralife looks on it as well as the function.
Pressurized CO2 into a limewood airstone under the spray bar.
ADA substrates...

Have to get some more pics of it, for now, here is one of it...

I think it was purchased at Petco.

Keep us updated, I've been tempted to buy that tank everytime I drive past a Petco. Looks good so far. I like the driftwood.

I just boiled the piece of driftwood and now it is drying, although I still need to buy a cheap brush to scrub the driftwood before it is ready. I'm also going to silicone the wood to a piece of slate that I bought. I will rinse and dry the Flourite tomorrow which should take a couple hours to do.

I will keep you all updated.

I wish I would have gotten that 6.6 Gallon instead of the Eclipse 6G that I have now. My afterthought anyway. That's cause after I set mine up, I didn't want to grow anything else but anacharis. Now I am growing crypts for the time being and it's been a good experience Still thinking about a long tank like that 6.6 you got Looking good so far!

I love that you have a 15W lamp. Of course we're all going to mention about lumens but comparing apples to apples, it's almost triple the wattage of my 8W bulb

15g acrylic with 1 gold fish | 10g with a bunch of guppies| 40g with plants for the Goldfish's new home

Update: Well using silicone to attach the driftwood to the slate didn't work too well, it actually wouldn't hold at all, so I'm probably going to not use the wood and just pack the tank with plants. I also added to flourite to the tank. Here are a few pictures.

I added enough flourite to have a good substrate depth. I still need to pick up a few supplies like test kits, AquaClear 20, digital thermometer, and a Hagen Co2 system. Well I should be adding the plants to this tank sometime next week.

Update: I added a few plants last night to get the tank started. I added anacharis, hornwort, and a small crypt. Here are the pics.
