Lightbulb Miss Santa got him a 10 gallon

Hi guys/girls MR.Santa has 14lbs of fluorite that he got for free from
Seachem. The hood is rated for 2x25watt incandescent and i know that i
have seen 20watt screw in power compact bulbs but is there a 25watt
screw in power compact? All help and in put on plants or any thing else for this tank (10 gallon) will be thought about very hard. I would like to use some drift wood but i have a hard time choosing the rite pice. Even for my 29 gallon i find it hard so help would be good. So lets here some ideas. Thank you.

P.S. Would this be a medium light tank or what would it be if it had
50watts of light? Oh and i have a spare hagen ladder system to use

I've seen straight tube screw-in claimed 6500k cf's rated up to 25w and the twisty/spiral ones up to 27w.

The right price or a cheap price? But I know what you mean...good luck.

As for plants...it really depends what you like, and which fish you'd like to keep.
But with that lighting over a 10, you should be able to grow most anything. the CO2 via the some method is almost a must with that lighting.
And you'll be adding macros and micros too.

There might be 25 watt screw in PC's if you look hard enough, but there is no reason that the 20 watt PC bulbs wouldn't work.

The biggest problem will be finding bulbs that will fit in the hood. Home Depot has a good selection of daylight Screw-in fluorescents.

There are CFL spirals of all sorts of wattages - and spectrums - if you know where to look.

Whether the larger ones will fit or not, that's another matter.

Do those spiral screw in bulbs really work for planted tank applications?

they've worked relatively well for me in a ten gallon, just don't consider it "high" lighting.

If the hood is anything like the topfin kit sold at Petsmart, then you should be able to fit in the 20watt spirals no problem. the 25 watt bulbs are pushing it spacewise (haven't tried putting them in yet myself).

The 25 watt bulbs are all right. They're about a millimeter or two to large, so the light system sort of wobbles. It's not terrible though.
