Mini Heater 2-1/4" x 5"; less than 1/4" thick. 77" cord. 7-1/2 watts

Thermal Compact Mini 6" 25 watts

Dunno if the first is too weak or second is too powerful or what, but there are some of the options.

thx random,
The thermal just may work fine for me, it is somtimes cold up here in the winter. I have the part number from your link, i can get it easy from my vendor contacts at work. that submersible pad looks cool though.

Yeah, the idea of being able to slide your heater underneath the substrate in a nano sounds very appealing.

I found a small cheap heater with a temp control at Wal Mart. It is about 5 inches long.

I installed a 25w Finnex on my planted-nano and its working great.
The heater is about 4 long & wide, with the temp setting on the plug.
I have a digital temp gauge and it always shows the tank temp within I degree of the heater setting.

I heard the walmart heaters are risky b/c the thermostat sometimes gets stuck on...resulting in extreme temps. But try it, and watch the temp.

Good luck..keep cool!

I use a small Walmart heater too, the ones they sell around me are actually visitherm heaters. They even say visitherm on them but the box they come in doesn't.

I have that pad heater. The one problem with it is no thermostat. So it's ALWAYS on, even when your water is quite warm enough. I am going to experiment with putting one on a timer this winter for my betta tank, just to keep him warmer than room temp without overheating.

It's a shame it doesn't have a thermostat and temp setting. That would make it WONDERFUL. C'mon guys, put one on the plug.

If someone would invent a nano heater that had a thermostat, I think they'd make a mint - LOTS of people have betta bowls and small fish tanks.
