2.5 gallon, new fixture and equipment.. needs work.

hello all.. this is my 2.5 "nano" tank. For months I had an inadequate fixture and, admittedly, an erratic fertilizing/feeding schedule. However, recently I bought a retro kit from AH supply and fitted it to my gutter-fixture. The lighting is now excellent, it's just a matter of figuring out the fertilization schedule. Any advice, comments?

Anyone seen the above fish?(corel red pencilfish) They're gorgeous, just a wee bit over-priced.

PS.. the water isn't dirty, that's peat water.

Just thought I'd add what's in it...

-elodia
-sunset hygro
-java moss
& dwarf hair grass

1 corel-red pencilfish
1 neon tetra
1 cherry barb
1 pygmy corydoras
1 otocinclus

and many, many malaysian trumpet snails(although i do keep them in check)

It sounds crowded, but it isn't because the otocinclus hides a lot and the corydoras stays toward the bottom. However, the cherry barb is a little too aggressive for the characins, so I'll probably swap him out for a more docile fish this weekend(preferably another small characin).

Thanks, it's nice to see some other people's routines.

I've got a little bit of substrate fertilization with laterite, but beyond that I'm using nitrates/phosphates from food, and twice a week i add about 1 thread of a cap in flourish and flourish excel.

The plants look a little weak, which has prompted me to add calcium chloride once in a while, but only a small amount about once per month because i'm afraid of chlorine build-up.
