ICK outbreak, Elite filters and my betta

*sigh* We were doing so good. Today (just now) I noticed a few spots of ick on my oto and one white cloud. I cannot find my directions for my mini elite filter. Does it have carbon in it? Is it removable?

Should I remove my betta from the tank since he can live without the filter and then treat the tank without him in it? Or should I treat him since he's been exposed. Also, does anyone know (easily) what the measurments would be for a tank this small (2g.) Should I do a water change first (before treating?) Oh man I feel like a total newb. I can't remember anything about keeping fish these days after taking a year of from my hobby. Should I Stress Coat em and Melafix em too? Bob (betta) is already picking at the white cloud.

Thanks, Dawn

Your elite, if it's the rectangular one, doesn't come with carbon.

What's your water temp? If possible, put your bowl/ tank under a desk lamp to warm it up just a little. You have some options:

add some aquarium salt and wait it out
add some melafix and stresscoat. Just a little dab for such a small tank

If your fish were ok prior to this, they should kick the ich in no time.

Just a note when adding salt. Make sure your adding the correct salt. Thereís non iodized salt and iodine salt. Iodine salt will kill your fish. Use about 1 tablespoon of plain or non iodized salt per gallon. Dissolve the salt before you pour it in. Otherwise you would be burning or even killing them.

The little Oto didn't make it. He looked "cured" yesterday morning. I think he died overnight. I am not going to try any more of those little guys until I get a larger tank. I didn't add the salt yet. I have some aquarium salt though. Do the betta and WCMM need it when well?
