Unhappy Nano Secrets

Okay. Dangitt. How do you all keep the upper edge of your tanks so clear? I get all this mineral deposit with the daily evaporation and it looks crummy...HELP!

Unfortunately I don't think there's a secret. Evaporation and some deposits are really tough to prevent in tiny tanks - you could set up an auto-topoff system (people use these often on reef tanks), but it's probably a bit much for a planted pico.
I have fairly soft water, so I don't get a lot of mineral deposits. I usually run a paper towel around the edge before I top off with distilled each evening.
May not be an option, but if you're getting a lot of evaporation, you could slow it by covering the top of the tank with a piece of acrylic or glass (just leave a little space for airflow).

Thanks,

I'm thinking that I'll set up my next "Blinky Cube" with R/O water since it's so teeny and I can get the stuff from work. Water where I live is hard as nails!

Aas an aside, those little white plastic "name tags" that come with some plants for the garden (and some from plants for your tank) make great crevice scrappers...

Hey Joe,

Nice tanks. Nice photos. I've got that Sedona stand set up in my 29 gal too, I really like it!
