10 days after starting my tank...issues.

I believe I have some algae bloom and some of the plants seem to be unhappy.

Tank info: 4 x 23w 6500k cfl, seachem dosing scheme (IRON, FLOURISH, PHOSPHORUS, NITROGEN,POTASSIUM), plenty of CO2 (the checker is green and I have pearling), and eco complete.

No fish in the tank yet but there are some snails roaming around.

The first picture was taken yesterday and shows the plants up close, and the second picture is from today with the water being very foggy.

Thoughts??

I haven't done a water change yet... Sounds like a plan!

I'll just wait to hear a few more opinions. Thanks buddy!

I agree with wkndracer and suspect this is a big part of the problem. I use 3x13w cfls over my 20g long, and that will grow algae pretty handily unless I'm careful with CO2. 4x26w over what looks like a 30-C would be asking for trouble imo.

I also think you could push your CO2 a bit higher since you don't have any fish yet. In that photo your drop checker actually looks a bit dark, you can go a bit more towards yellow.

Your tank is already very pretty! I like.

How large is the tank? I did fine with 2 screw in fluorescents over a 10 gallon years ago, this tank must be larger if 4 fit so nicely over the top. Still if you can raise the light or only use 2 bulbs at this point in your tank's life it probably is a good idea.

I see floating leaves and dead leaves on some plants. Keeping up water changes and removing debris as it accumulates can help thwart algae. The snails will eat the dead stuff and if you are snailphobic you may not care for the population explosion that can easily occur if there is too much food in the tank for the snails.

How is the cycle going? Have you checked ammonia, ntirite and nitrates? Perhaps the cycle is well started?

Interesting.... Well my tank is 18"x18"18" cube.

I will do a water change tomorrow and try to crank up the co2 a bit.

Nice selection
1) Might want to bring that big rock up front more and/or
2) Move it off-center
3) Define "unhappy"
4) This tank is going to scream "I love jungles", but in a good way

Way too much lighting. The more light you have, the more demand of co2, nutrients, etc... If it was me reduce it to two lights. how big is the tank?

The tank is 25gal.

the consensus seems to be: lower the lights. I will go down to three and do a water change.

Thanks for the tips! I changed the water the other day and all is well now. I also increased the CO2 and I have to say that I have tons of pearling.... Almost all plants are doing very very well.
