A lot of people have wanted to see my own Wabi Kusa. A lot of them I've been only keeping for a few weeks to grow out before letting them go, but I'm now going to start a dedicated journal for one. This one is right next to my ADA Mini S
I'll explain what I started with and how I set it up.
I started with one of my Wabi Kusa, one of my Wabi Kusa glasses, some sand (not shown, sorry
), some fert caps I had laying around, and a little HC for effect.
I took one root cap and split it open. I emptied the contents into the bowl.
Then I filled the bowl with a little water. It's about 1" worth.
Next I placed the sand carefully on the bottom of the bowl, making sure I covered all the fertilizer.
Of course, you don't need this step but I did it just to see how it works out. I had some HC that I placed on the sand (below where the Wabi Kusa will sit).
The all-important Wabi Kusa was selected. It was placed carefully in the bowl on top of the HC. The circular plant glass allows for me to move it to view it any direction I want for optimal viewing.
I'll keep it covered with some Saran Wrap for about one week and slowly decrease the amount covered during that time. This way I can slowly acclimate it to low humdity. Misting at least 2 times a day is essential if it's not covered. If you're going on vacation or something though, you can leave it covered for a week without misting and probably have no problems.
Here's the finished product!
I hope you guys like it, and I'll update this journal periodically (i.e. once or twice weekly depending on growth). It'll be a nice accent next to my ADA tank. Thanks for reading!
