My Fluval Ebi

This is my Fluval Ebi, which is my first planted tank.

The glass needs a good scraping but you get the idea. I replaced the stock light with a 26w Finnex. I'm still running the stock filter with floss jammed in the first chamber. The driftwood is propped up on a clay pot "cave" that the shrimp really like. It's tough to see though since the Java moss has taken over so thoroughly.

The inhabitants are:
About a dozen Chili Endlers (A number I'm trying to reduce by removing the females but one always ends up escaping and pooping out more babies)

3 Otocinclus

4 Amano Shrimp

And a colony of Fire Red Shrimp.

I'm thinking of adding CO2, I'm hoping that will help with the poor state of my HC carpet. I'm planning on ordering the Hagen Nutrifin Natural Plant System and running that instead of a DIY reactor because I am not AT ALL handy. I have never used CO2 before and frankly I'm very intimidated by it. What is a good diffuser to use with this system instead of the ladder? I've read it gums up a lot. Should I use a bubble counter? How do I maintain a good CO2 level without killing my fish and shrimp?

What is a good way to trim Java moss without the trimmings getting everywhere and taking over the whole tank? I'd just rip it all out if it wasn't such a good hiding area for the shrimplets.

I think if you regulate the co2 with a bubble counter, your fauna would be ok.

As for the'll probably be best off taking the entire structures that the moss is attached to out of the water and trimming it that way.
