G'day from Australia - newbie to plants fluval flora planted

Hi all,

Stumbled upon this forum looking for inspiration for planting setups (there are some beautiful pics on this forum!)

Have had mostly S American Cichlids before in various tanks (main fish was 14" red devil) for 12 years but he passed away so I've decided to tinker with nano tanks as a 6' tank is just too hard to plant.

Anyway here are a couple of pics of the fluval - it's been going for nearly 2 weeks so far.

1st pic a couple days after planting, still a little cloudy from gravel - used established water from 6' tank and media for filter from same.

2nd pic, today - apologies for quality - phone pics.

Anny suggestions welcome!

Cheers mates

I like the grass on the left in the back. Is that HC in the back to the right? I would suggest putting more grass on the right too or maybe put a different plant on the right. Since you really can't see the HC.

That driftwood looks like a great centerpiece to build around. Are you planning a moss wall or something? I think I see a wire mesh in the background. Also, the rock background..... is that a DIY?

Hi thanks -

The HC is planted all over to make a kind of grassy look with the log having a bit of moss growing off the top - you're right it might be an idea to put the grass on the right too to cover up the strangely gigantic co2 parts!

The background came with the tank - I considered taking it out but seeing as I paid for it I left it! The moss wall is just in there to grow - dont really know what to do with it - cover some heater/filter I guess!

Good use of billabong! Haha.
