If you have other tanks (which im sure you do) i would start a breeding colony of Gammarus shrimp in the bowl in which you would have a constant supply of live food for your other fishes :-)

I'll probably put a few rcs in there...plants are still stumping me so far :P all I currently have on hand is dwarf hairgrass, ludwigia, and java fern. Not a huge fan of scuds but it could always be a backup plan

They have them at Petco.

Also they're pretty much right shrimp is your best option.
Plants I always love stuffing bowls with moss, maybe an anubias also?

Good Luck with the tank, I've been eyeing those things at petco for a while.

I had it setup before but it was just a temporary tank for a rescue betta. Now I'm hoping to make it a nice little planted tank I have anubias already just need to look into some moss.

Mine is actual extremely quiet bordering silent if not for my good hearing. I believe anyone who has trouble with sound has the water level too low I had the level lower on the previous use for my temporary betta so the sound and water level are tied to one another.
