you don't necessarily need a kit, but if you must, i recently got my friend an evolve 8.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.

I like the Fluval Spec. It is pretty neat. It comes with the built in sump filter and light.

The Evolve 8 looks like a great nano tank for shrimp. I want to get my hands on it one day, but until then I use my 15G for them.

You could get by with a 10G kit, but why spend the money on it when you're eventually going to replace more than half the stuff in the kit. I would just buy what you want for the tank

Who would have thought that plants like dirt?!

I found a 6.6 gallon bookshelf aquarium at one of the big box stores that I really like. I did, however, change out the HOB filter for a ZooMed 501 canister filter.
